18 THINGS BEING 18 TAUGHT ME

21 April 2015

I know that finding yourself is one of life's hardest lessons and often it comes with a price. Losing people that meant a lot to you, realising that time does wait for anybody and a lot more. But I decided that you're never too old or too young to seek advice and here I am providing you with 18 things I've learnt at 18. I'm nearly 19 and looking back over the years sometimes I just needed somebody to tell me some of these things and even though you may read some and scoff honestly they will all become relevant. So thank you for reading this far and enjoy!

18 THINGS BEING 18 HAS TAUGHT ME

1.     Don’t want for nothing. Always have a goal that you want to complete -don’t let yourself or your time be meaningless.

2.     If one of your friends/partner is being rude to you they're not your friend and they're bringing negative energy into your life!

3.     Don’t feel guilty about breaking a friendship or a relationship that wasn't good for you. It's hard to realise but you can't fix or help everybody sometimes it's got to be done by them.

4.     Be happy for something everyday and write them down. They’ll be a time where you will need to see and remember those moments.

5.     Failing a test is okay! I used to think it was the end of the world but I realised there’s make up tests and things you can do to catch yourself up.

6.     Always think about your parents - ask them how they’re doing, ask them about their younger days. They’re not going to be here forever so cherish them!

7.     Smile, smile, smile! Even though it’s cheesy and cliché smiling actually makes your feel happier even if you’re not in the best mood!

8.     Keep a journal about everything and anything. It can be on your day, what you're into at the minute even an argument! It’ll be cool to look back on and see how much you’ve changed or what was happening this time last year for you.

9.     If you’re not feeling well or just don’t have the energy to go to school… Don’t force yourself to go. Put yourself first always.

10. Always take mental health seriously. If you’re feeling down, anxious etc for a long period of time talk to your doctor, your mental health is as serious as your physical health.

11. Don’t be afraid to try new things! It may seem scary at first but once you’re there it’s amazing and you will look back and think why did you even worry.

12. Friendships don't last forever so don't depend on anyone but yourself for happiness.

13. Take some ‘you’ time. Run yourself a bath, do a facial mask, watch a movie.. Do anything for yourself!

14. Don’t change for other people. Once they're not apart of your life any more you will look in the mirror and not see yourself and that's the scariest part. You're perfect just the way you are please always stay true to you!

15. Remember that self-love is everything! Love yourself and all your imperfections because without them you’re someone else.

16. Your parents are usually always right, trust them. They have years on us and they've become wise in them.

17. Compliment people. It takes no time out of your day to make someone else’s.

18. Smile at strangers! Your sign of happiness can uplift someone’s day.

So thank you guys for taking the time to read this i hoped this helped! Do any of you have any advice you would give your younger self looking back? Let me know in the comments! Also if you're not on my blog from blogspot let me know where you found me from!

  4. This is a great list! I think 18 is still a very young age and you have so far to go so take things easy and just open your mind to learning new things.
